Using your email accounts

- 6. My email program wants to know what the outgoing (SMTP) server name is.
You can use either of 2 settings here.
Method #1: Try using the SMTP server that belongs to your ISP. For the server name, contact your ISP or check their support site. It may have a name such as smtp.yourisp.com, smtp-server.yourisp.com or mail.yourisp.com.
Some ISPs may allow you to use their SMTP server, but only if your sending (From:) email address includes their domain name (example: YourIspEmailAddress@YourIsp.com). If this is the case and would like to use a sending (From:) email address from your domain (YourMailBox@YourDomain.com), then try method 2.
Method #2: Use the SMTP server that included with your hosting account. The outgoing (SMTP) server name is "mail." followed by your domain name. Example: "mail.yourdomain.com".
Some ISPs don't allow you access to SMTP servers other than their own. If your email program complains that it is unable to connect with the SMTP server, check with your ISP to see if they block traffic through SMPT port 25. In this case, use method 1.
